The Tach / Deadman Interface Board offers a flexible engine/avionics interface that provides ignition control via from the aircraft controller and a manual kill switch. It also provides and a logic level tachometer to the controller. It has been designed to directly interface to the Piccolo autopilot. For more information, see Tach / Deadman's Interface Control Specification.
Key Features
Deterministic control of ignition state for both magneto and electronic ignition modules via a single 5-volt level discrete input (typically driven by Piccolo Deadman’s output).
Conditioning of the incoming RPM signal for sampling by the Piccolo.
The option for an external (vehicle mounted) engine kill switch and companion status LED. This provides operators manual control over the ignition state regardless of the autopilot commanded state, providing an additional level of safety during ground operations.
The option to power an electronic ignition module directly from the Piccolo Deadman’s 5-volt output or from an external battery or power source.
Operating from a wide-input voltage range, the Power Regulator board provides high-efficiency, step-down voltage conversion for loads of up to 3 A. The output voltage can be set to any value over a wide adjustment range using a single external resistor.
The Power Regulator Board has under-voltage lockout, an integral on/off inhibit, and includes an output current limit and over-temperature protection. It is well suited to a wide variety of general-purpose applications that operate off 12-V, 24-V, or 28-V DC power.
The Power Regulator board may be set to any value within the range, 2.5 V to 12.6 V, The output voltage of the board can be as little as 2 V lower than the input, allowing operation down to 7 V, with an output voltage of 5 V. Download the Power Regulator Board Data Sheet for specifications and dimensional drawings of the Power Regulator Board.
The AGL Sensor has the best range-to-weight ratio of any small laser altimeter. This makes it ideal for any small unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The AGL Sensor was designed for easy integration into small UAVs, with special considerations made to its weight and size for that purpose. The AGL sensor is designed to work with CCT’s Piccolo line of autopilots, running Piccolo software version 2.0.3 or greater. Interfaces to additional autopilots are under development.
The Avionics Mount is a generic mount used for soft mounting the Piccolo Avionics. Many flight hours have proven its ability to dampen engine vibration with both 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines. The dampener foam is a closed cell silicone rubber foam, that retains its material dampening properties from -50º to 200ºC. The bottom plate of the mount is oversized to allow easy custom mounting within the aircraft. Carbon-Fiber brackets are provided which allow mounting of the Piccolo unit in either of two orientations. After the Avionics Mount is installed, the Piccolo Avionics is easily removed with (8) machine screws.
The Pitot/Static Combined Pressure System provides both the dynamic and static pressure from a single probe assembly. Features a durable titanium and carbon fiber design, and can easily be removed for transportation or storage purposes. The kit includes a tube, a 2-port hub, and mounting clamps.
Separate Pitot and Static Tube Kits are also available. Kits include tubing, reducers, and mounting hardware. The Pitot Tube is a ¼ inch stainless steel tubing that works in conjunction with a carbon fiber static probe to measure altitude and air speed of your UAV. Both Pitot and Static sensors are lightweight and durable, with simple installations in the aircrafts wings. Both sensors allow standard ¼ inch Tygon tubing, and with ¼ inch to 3/32 inch reducers, the 3/32 inch Tygon tubing interfaces to the Piccolo Avionics.
